Protein Meal

Protein meals are used as a food supplement in stock feed rations for cattle, pigs and poultry.

They are used for their protein, fibre, amino acids and available energy in the way of fat (oil).
Protein meal is the bi-product of the vegetable oil production process and is what is left after the oil has been extracted from the seed.

There are two oil extraction processes used for vegetable oil – mechanical pressing methods and chemical solvent (hexane) methods. The extraction method will impact on the oil (fat), protein and fibre percentages of the meal.

Adams Australia trades in:
* Sunflower Meal;
* Safflower Meal;
* Canola Meal;
* Full Fat Soybean Meal;

Sunflower Meal
High Oleic (mono-unsaturated) and Linoleic (ploy-unsaturated) are both available. Sunflower meal is often favoured for having no recognised anti-nutritional factors.

Typical Analysis:
  Pressed Solvent
Protein 34-36% 32%
Fibre 19-21% 22%
Fat 9-11% 2%
Moisture 3-6% 12%
Ash 5-7% 6.2%
Digestible Energy 15-15.5%
Metabolisable Energy Ruminant MJ/Kg 12.5%
NFE 21.24

Safflower Meal
Available for both oleic and linoleic safflower types. Safflower meal is often used as a cheaper alternative to sunflower meal. Safflower meal is high in fibre.

Typical Analysis:
  Pressed Solvent
Protein 22-25% 25%
Fibre 38.5% 30%

Moisture 3-6% 12%
Ash 4.3% 6%
Digestible Energy 3.9%
Metabolisable Energy Ruminant MJ/Kg 12.6%
NFE 25.7%

Canola Meal
Canola meal is another popular protein feed supplement. Canola meal has higher levels amino acids that contain sulfur and is a good source of vitamins.

Typical Analysis:
  Pressed Solvent
Protein 36.5-38% 37.4%
Fibre 12-14% 15%
Fat 8-10% 3.5%
Moisture 3-6% 11%
Ash 6-7% 6%
Digestible Energy 12-13%
Metabolisable Energy Ruminant MJ/Kg 15-16%
NFE 23-33%

Full Fat Soybean Meal
This type of soybean meal has not had the oil (fat) extracted. It has been heat treated to minimise the urease level. It is not solvent treated.

Full fat soybean meal is one of the most extensively used vegetable protein meals. The amino acid profile found in soybean meal is favorable for digestion and combined with other feed components provides for a balanced diet. Organic soybean meal is heat treated to remove issues with urease. It is available for both domestic and international users.

If you are a domestic or international user of organic soybean meal click here to contact us and find out how Adams Australia can help you.
